Lopdell Gallery, Avondale College, and the Manukau Institute of Technology & Manukau Interchange Building were all recognised recently in the New Zealand Institute of Architects Annual Awards for the Auckland region.
Lopdell House and Gallery refurbishment, now known as Te Uru o Waitakere Gallery was recognised in the Heritage section eventhough the main gallery is a new build. Project Unite were contracted to clad the building in an exotic material produced by Prefa ex Austria, and as you can see from the gallery shots, it is a very impressive building and cladding system.
Manukau Institute of Technology building was also a winner on the night with the Educational facility and Transport Interchange being one of the largest seismic expansion joint contracts Project Unite have completed to date.
Len Brown was present amongst other dignitaries in Titirangi for the unveiling of the newly renamed Te Uru Gallery and Lopdell House project recently completed by NZ Strong. The 'green' gallery is clad in an exotic aluminium panel cladding product imported especially from Germany. The finished result is a very impressive edifice and the workmanship in the construction is more than worthy of a place next to the artworks that are exhibited within.
The Project team have completed 20,000m2 reroof and reclad of the old Lion Breweries site on Khyber Pass Road in Newmarket. Buildings 901-904 have undergone a major overhaul to house state-of-the-art research facilities for the Engineering Department of the University of Auckland.
